This study examines The Quality of News Writing Using Artificial
Intelligence Among Fourth-Year Students in the English and Literature
Department at UIN Alauddin Makassar. The research aims to (1) analyze
how students utilize AI tools in the news writing process and (2) assess
the quality of AI-assisted writing compared to non-AI-assisted writing.
The populations of this study are 69 students based on the questionnaires
answer, and there are ten students of sample. The study employs the
Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to evaluate questionnaire
responses and applies J.S. Badudu’s (1988) journalistic writing guidelines
as a theoretical framework. Using a quantitative approach with total
sampling, the findings reveal that AI tools assist students in generating
ideas, improving news structure, correcting grammatical errors, and
facilitating translation and the sources of the data from this research are
from questionnaires data and news writing task with and without AI tools
wrote by students. Additionally, AI detection tools indicate varying scores
among students using the same AI tools, suggesting that differences in AI
prompts influence output quality. The study concludes that proper
application of AI tools can enhance writing quality, emphasizing the
importance of effective AI utilization in news writing.
