Zach Sobiech Journey into a hero in the Movie Clouds ( 2020 )

This study aims to analyze how Zach Sobiech journey into a hero, in
the movie Clouds (2020). This study uses a qualitative descriptive
method with Christopher Vogler's theory of heroism (Hero's
Journey) and structuralism theory to explore the characters and
storyline. Primary data was obtained from the movie Clouds
(2020), while secondary data came from related literature. The
results of the study show that Zach Sobiech embodies heroic values
such as optimism, creativity, empathy, humor, fear and doubt, as
well as a reflective and warm personality. These values are directly
displayed through Zach's own actions and dialogue, as well as
through another character, and indirectly through the interactions
and reactions of other characters around him. This finding
reinforces the idea that Zach became a hero not only for his courage
in facing his illness but also for being surrounded by family, friends,
teachers, and the community who constantly motivated him to
fight, share, and inspire. Zach Sobiech's story proves that every
heroic act always involves another person, and that courage and
determination thrive when one doesn't go it alone.
