This research discussed The Portrayal of Eco-trauma in The Movie
Twisters (2024) by Mark L. Smith. The purpose of this research is to identify
and explain the portrayal of eco-trauma through the Kate main character on
twisters movie script (2024). This research applies the structuralism
approach by Rene Wellek and Austin Warren that focus on characterization
and plot, with the data source from twisters (2024) movie and script. The
researcher used a descriptive qualitative method, with Note-taking as an
instrument to collect the data. The results of this research show that trauma
portrayed in twisters movie through feeling guilty, scared ,avoidant , doubtful,
and hopeless that experienced by Kate because of Nature itself which is
tornado EF5 that made her losing of her best friends. Not all of Kate
emotional reactions can be categorized as eco-trauma, it is a normal human
response to a disaster. The fear and feeling guilty that Kate felt after losing
her friends in the EF5 tornado did not prevent her from stopping the storm to
help others. Instead, it shaped her strength, courage, and resilience in facing
life and the threat of natural disasters as a strom chaser.
