in this research, the writer finds out that Aru script has five types of meaning according to Geoffrey Leech's theory. they are connotative, social, affective, reflected, and thematic meaning. moreover, the writer found out that the use of Aru in the past and in the present is much different because the social conditions at those two times are also different.
