Analysis Of Grammatical Cohesion On Student Academic Writing Skill
This research discussed about grammatical cohesion on students' academic writing skill. The data were analyzed using descriptive gualitatve method. The population of the research is Fifth semester students of English Literature Department UIN Alauddin Makassar in the academic year 2018/ 2019. The main instrument of the research is the researcher herself, where the researcher gives writing test to the students, and then notes of every necessary data reguiered in order to complete the research. The findings showed that there are 1.456 grammatical cohesion devices in 20 of students wtiting. All of grammatical cohesion devices are appear includes 4 types of grammatical cohesion which are reference, substitution, ellipsis, and conjunction. Reference is the most dominant types used by the students among all types of grammatical cohesion, the result shows 1156 occurances appear or 79,39Y42. The researcher concluded that of 20 essays writing composed by students, the researcher found the grammatical cohesion types that was dominantly used in their essays. the dominantiy used in their essay writing is reference items.
