Apology Strategies Used in Luca Movie Script

This research aims to focus on the apology strategy that purposed to find out apology strategy, dominant strategy and language function in apologizing used by the characters expressed in the Luca movie script. This thesis based on Trosborg's (1995) theory about apology strategy. The data were collected by gualitative descriptive method. The finding showed that there are various strategy used by the characters. That strategy include direct strategy, indirect strategy, evasive strategy, opting out, and remedial support. There are 19 utterances of apology strategies used by the characters found in Luca movie script, there were ten utterances in direct strategy, five utterances in indirect strategy, two utterances of evasive strategy, one utterance of opting out and one utterance of remedial support. The researcher concluded that the dominant strategy used by the characters were direct strategy. For the next result, the language function in apologizing in Luca movie script, the most characters directly show their guilty and regret for the mistake has been done.
