Students” Vocabularies Acguisition by Using Krashen's Hvpothesis at ASSET (Pare, English Village)
This research was conducted to determine how students in the ASSET environment can acguire vocabulary. This study involved 5 participants who were interviewed about how they acguired their vocabulary at ASSET, Pare. This research focuses on how to acguire vocabulary and how they acguire their second language. This research is descriptive gualitative research. Data was taken from the results of the interview answers of the participants. The theory used in this study refers to Krashen's theory of second language acguisition (SLA) which Acguisition Learning Hypothesis, Input Hypothesis and Affective Filter Hypothesis. The results found that in acguisition learning hypothesis there were 4 ways to acguire vocabulary, namely 1) Listening to music, podcasts, 2) Reading, 3) Writing in their notebooks, and 4) Speaking. he four methods enabled participants to acguire their vocabulary or second language in ASSET. This was also due to a supportive environment during the learning process based on input hypothesis the researcher found there were several ways in acguiring vocabulary which were listen to the people who talk each other, watching movie and meeting up. The affective filter hypothesis was closely related to the 2 previous hypotheses because it concerns to the personality of the student who acguires vocabulary in ASSET, it is found that speaking is one of the ways they acguired vocabulary indirectly.
