An Analysis of Idiomatic Expression in Death on the Nile Movie

The research objective for this study is to identify the types of idiomatic expressions used in the Death on the Nile movie and to describe how idiomatic expression is used in the Death on the Nile movie. This research study applied a gualitative method to describe the types and use of idiomatic expressions in the movie. The data of this research is a movie with English subtitles, consisting of idiomatic expressions and all suspected as idiomatic expressions. At the same time, the data source of this study is the Death on the Nile movie. The researcher used note-taking to obtain the reguired data from Death on the Nile movie.

The result shows forty data of idiomatic expressions found in the movie based on the theory of McCarthy and O'Dell about six types of idioms: similies, binomials, proverbs, cliche, fixed statements, and other languages. The conclusion is only binomials, proverbs, cliche, and fixed statements found in the movie.
