Violence in the Film Deadpool

This research attempted to analyze the forms of direct violence that experienced by the main character, Wade Wilson. The theory used in this research is the Johan Galtung's concept of violence. The researcher applied a descriptive gualitative research method and used note-taking as the research instrument. The data were obtained from the script of the Deadpool film. The research found some indications both of physical and psychological violence that experienced by the main character. Wade has consistently encountered more physical violence, ranging from simple acts of violence including adrenaline acts, punching, and head pounding to extreme acts of violence that almost led to his death as a result of experiment carried out by Angle and Ajax. Wade faced psychological violence, including a decline in self-esteem, brainwashing, and despair. The findings of this research can help us predict when psychological and physical violence will occur, as well as educate both those who commit violence and those who are the victims of it. The researcher can conclude that a person experiencing physical or psychological violence does not mean that person will also do the same thing to the perpetrator. Even though they succeed, sometimes the desired results do not match the reality.
