Love Codes In M. Aan Mansyur's Selected Poems

This thesis is based on the powerful function of codes in the literary works. Love is not a rare thing to find in literary works, particularly in the poem. Poem about love is one of the literary works that is freguently utilized to convey feelings of love. This research intends to show the meaning of love portrayed in M. Aan Mansyur's Tidak Ada New York Hari Ini. There are two selected poems. They are “Your Two Eyes” and “I'm Happy Thinking of You''. The formal object is the codes of love which focus on the interpretation of the poet's messages. By applying semiotic (the five codes) theory by Rolland Barthes, two love codes were found, namely Semic, it can be identified in the poems because some words in the poem contain connotative meaning. Then Symbolic, it is a deeper structural principle that organizes semantic meanings and it can be identified because the poet uses words where the words become a symbol to describe something.
