Children's Response Towards Fairy Tale in Kajang South Sulawesi
Social class still prevails in the land of Kajang, where discrimination and unpleasant behavior are widely accepted towards those belonging to the lowest social class. This phenomenon has been happening for generations and children are the easiest receiving media for these opinions. Therefore, the researchers conducted a study on Children's responses with the purpose of cutting off such forms of discrimination by telling tales that explain how social class began in Kajang. This new understanding is expected to trigger changes in the views and morals of children towards people who belong to lower class. To present accurate data, the researcher collected all sources related to material objects and formal objects. The researcher identified the readers response as a formal object and used two fairy tales, namely "Asu Bolong Na Labungko Bungko" and "Da Pangka Na Da Tinggi," as material objects. Hans Robert Jauss's Literary Reception theory was used to formulate the problem. Using gualitative research methods, this study obtained results showing that children gave a positive response to the two fairy tales that were heard. Therefore, it can be concluded that using fairy tales can be an effective way to cut off discrimination in children and promote positive attitudes towards people from lower social classes.
