REESTABLISHING EQUILIBRIUM IN THE ANIMAL FARM NOVEL BY GEORGE ORWELL
This research discusses human nature, deviant nature in power contestation
that appears and becomes the concept of everyday life phenomena in George
Orwell’s novel “Animal Farm”. This research was conducted to reveal the meaning
of what was conveyed by the author of the novel to describe how the ideal and non-
ideal living conditions were in accordance with what was conveyed by Geoge
Orwell through his book. The researcher used the function of the structuralism
theory of Tzvetan Todorov and findings five stages of organizations of life.
The data were analyzed using a descriptive qualitative method to find,
describe, and analyze objects. The data collected based on the theory of narrative
structuralism is categorized according to five organizations. The aims of this
research is to find narrative structure underlines the account of this power struggle
namely The Situation of Equilibrium, The Break of Equilibrium (Disequilibrium),
Recognioton of The Disruption Occuring, There is an Attempt to Repair the
Damage Done by The Disruption, A Return or Restoration of a New Equilibrium
based on the narrative structuralism analysis developed by Tzvetan Todorov.
