MOTHERLY LOVE IN THE MOVIE THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS (2018)
This thesis discusses the concept of motherly love in the movie The Nutcracker
and The Four Realms. The Nutcracker and The Four Realms is a children's fantasy
adventure movie with a Christmas theme. This thesis discusses how a mother's love
has an important role in growing children. However, before directing the discussion
to the concept of motherly love, the researcher first analyzes the structure of the
movie's story through the concept of structuralism. However, the main purpose of this
thesis is to find the concept of motherly love in the movie. Using descriptive
qualitative method, the researcher found that the concept of motherly love in the
movie is found in several structures of the story, whether from the dialogue or from
the action of the characters in the movie. This result is also strengthened by the
concept of Motherly Love that stated by Erich Fromm. The researcher concluded that
Motherly Love in this movie is still felt by the main character through a gift that leads
the main character to find her true identity. This research is enough to provide a
lesson that sometimes we can't predict where a mother's love will come from, but we
can understand it in our daily lives no matter how simple it is.
