EUPHEMISM USED IN BRITAIN'S GOT TALENT AUDITION
This research discussed about Euphemism Used in Britain's Got Talent
Audition. This research focused on finding the types of Euphemism and the
function of Euphemism that used by the judges and the contestant of Britain's Got
Talent from season 12th and 13
th. The data were analyzed using descriptive
qualitative method. The theory that used in this research were theory and function
of Euphemism by Allan and Burridge (1991). The main instrument of the research
is Note-Taking. The findings showed several types of Euphemism they were
Figurative expression, Flippancy, Acronym, Hyperbole, Understatement, and
General Colloquial items. There are two functions of Euphemism found they are to
prevent an offensive language (protective euphemism), and to amuse and entertain
(the ludic euphemism).
