“An Error Analysis in Using Passive Voice (A Case Study of the Second Grade Students of MAS Guppi Buntu Barana in Academic Year 2014/2015)”
This thesis is the research about an error analysis in using passive voice (A
Case Study of the Second Grade Students of MAS Guppi Buntu Barana in
Academic Year 2014/2015). The objectives of research are: 1) to identify kinds of
errors made by the second grade students of MAS Guppi Buntu Barana in using
passive voice. 2) to identify the most dominant errors made by the second grade
students of MAS Guppi Buntu Barana in using passive voice.
The method that was used in this research was quantitative research. The
data sources are the students‟ answers. In getting data the researcher distributed
instrument (tests) for students to answer. The researcher used Ellis‟ theory to
classify and analyze students‟ errors.
In this research the researcher found the kinds of error that was made by
the students, are: misinformation, omission and overgeneralization. The most
dominant error found in the students‟ works is misinformation with 63.72% and
the lowest is overgeneralization with 5.88%. Besides, the researcher found the
ability of students in making passive voice is balance, where correct answers with
50% and incorrect answers with 50%.
