THE VALUE OF AFFECTION IN THE MOVIE "THE CONJURING 3: THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT" (A STUDY OF MASLOW’S HIERARCHY OF NEEDS)
This research discusses the value of affection in the movie "The Conjuring 3:
The Devil Made Me Do It" (A Study of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs). This
research is to describe how characters act to gain affection in a movie, especially in
a horror movie. The research method is a qualitative method, by using Abraham
Maslow’s theory “Hierarchy of Needs theory”. The results of this study indicate
that affection can be proven by the actions of the characters. One of them is Arne
who saves his lover from a scary creature. Then Lorraine showed her abilities that
no one else had. Both of these actions are forms of affection for someone or
somebody. The researcher concluded that people act in certain ways to show
affection to someone or somebody. Then, how can someone apply these needs in
everyday life, and how can someone achieve these needs to fulfill all his needs to
get affection.
