EXPRESSIVE SPEECH ACTS PERFORMED BY THE HOST AND THE GUESTS IN CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD SEASON 4

This study aimed to describe the types of expressive speech acts and the function
of using types of expressive speech acts used by the host and the guests in Celebrity
Family Feud Season 4. This research used descriptive qualitative method. The
Researcher found that there are 6 types of expressive speech acts use by the host and
the guests in Celebrity Family Feud Season 4. First, the expressive speech acts of
gratitude, Expressive of apology, Expressive of congratulation, Expressive of hope,
Expressive of attitude, and Expressive of greeting. All the function of expressive
speech acts used in Celebrity Family Feud Season 4. In this case they used Expression
of gratitude, expression of regret, expression of appreciation, expression of praise,
expression of condolences, expression of acceptance, expression of complaining, and
expression of criticizing. This research also succeeded in uncovering the types of
expressive speech acts that often occur in family feud season 4, namely the speech act
of gratitude which we often find used in this TV show, even unconsciously we often
encounter it in everyday life.
