THE ANALYSIS OF DYSPHEMISM IN “HAROLD AND KUMAR ESCAPE FROM GUANTANAMO BAY” FILM

The research was descriptive qualitative research that aimed at describing the
types of dysphemism and the functions of using types of dysphemism used by the
characters in Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo film. The study found that ;
(1) There are 7 types of dysphemism found in Harold & Kumar Escape from
Guantanamo Bay film. It shows Synecdoche, Dysphemistic Epithets, Euphemistic
Dysphemism, Dysphemistic Euphemism, “-ist” Dysphemism, Name Dysphemism,
Homosexuality Dysphemism. (2) There are 6 functions of dysphemism found in
Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay film. It shows humiliating others,
showing anger, emphasing something or some condition, stating and representing a
very bad thing or condition, showing closeness in friendship, and expressing
astonishment or amazement.
