Conservatism on "The Breadwinner" Movie
This study discusses conservatism in the The Breadwinner movie. The
Breadwinner tells the story of a girl named Parvana who struggles to provide for
her family's basic needs because her father has been arrested by a conservatism
regime. However, the opposing regime forbade a daughter to leave the house. The
method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The theory used is the
theory of conservatism according to Nisbet. This research finds that conservatism
limits women's movement in public spaces which can be seen in The Breadwinner
movie. In addition, this study also found that conservatism works by ordering the
police to guard public spaces. [According to Nisbet, these restrictions gave birth
to three descriptions, namely social influence, individual control with prejudice,
and psychological influence].
