Conversation Overlap in the Pretty Basic Podcast Featuring Meghan trainor

In social interaction, humans will make the communication process run smoothly by turn-taking, which is waiting for a turn to speak after the first speaker finishes what is being discussed. In this study, the researcher focuses on examining conversation overlap, which is a conversation between two or more people at the same time. The researcher used the Pretty Basic Featuring Meghan Trainor Podcast as the object of research on conversation overlap using the theory from Schegloff (2000 discussed about two or more people speaking at the same time. The researcher studied conversation overlap using gualitative methods and found one type of compeuuve overlap. five conversations of chordoal overlap, six conversations of continuers overlap, and nine conversations of terminal overlap. The researcher concluded that most conversation that occurs in the podcast is mostly done by listeners because they listen and understand what is conveyed by the speaker and respond by doing conversation overlaps.
