Love in Cantik itu Luka and Beloved: A Comparative Study

This research focuses on the comparison of love on both novels Cantik itu Luka and Beloved. The research objective of this study is to describe how the love shows and comparing it. Descriptive gualitative method is used in this study. The data is analysed by using love theory of Robert J Stenberg and comparison theory of Wellek and Warren, the England linguist. The result shows that three component of love appears in both novels which are intimacy, passion, commitment or decision and oppression part as a result of intrinsic comparison. The similarities of both novels are the theme, women main character, daughter issues in war and slavery situation, character and characterization, traumatize, the plot and sexual consummation. The difference of both novels are reason of reborn of character, background place and time, how expressing love by word and commitment or decision issues. The main characters of both are women who struggle to live their life in war and slavery situation with daughter issue as a main point. The reason how the novels different are characterizations of main character thus both of them have a different plot story, background place and different timeline
