Didacticism In The Novel “The Story of a Seagull and The Cat Who Taught Her to Fly” By Luis Sepulveda
Didactic value is something that is useful in providing teaching to rellow humans or between individuals and their environment. This thesis aims to analyze the didactic value in the novel. This research uses a gualitative method with didactic theory by Dianne Tillmen. The data in this research are in the form of sentences or paragraphs contained in the novel. The results of this research include: There are twelve didactic values contained in the novel, including: 1) Value of Loyalty 2) Value of Empathy 3) Value of Perseverance and Tenacity 4) Value Authentic 5) Value of Honesty 6) Value of Humility 7) Value of Cooperation 8) Value of Happiness 9) Value of Simplicity 10) Value of Responsibility 11) Value of Unity 12) Value of Independence. After knowing that there are 12 didactic values that are in line with the value of didacticism, this novel is suitable for reading by teenagers because it contains didactic (educational) values. The author concludes that this novel contains didactic value because teaching educational values is not only taught in class but can also be taught through literature.
