English Borrowing Words in Articles on RakyatSulsel.co Newspaper

This research aims to determine the types and changes meaning of English borrowing words in articles on Rakyatsulsel.co newspaper published in July 2023. The researcher used descriptive gualitative methods, to describe and analyze the types and meaning changes of borrowing words from English into Indonesian that experienced extension, narrowing, regeneration, degeneration, and no changes meaning. This research also explains the types based on Haugen theory (1972) namely loanwords, loanblend, and loanshift. The researcher found twenty-eight English borrowing words in articles on Rakyatsulsel.co and were found two types, namely loanwords and loanblend. The findings also show that most or almost all of the English borrowing words do not undergo significant changes in meaning. This phenomenon can be explained through the context of use, where the English borrowing words applied in situations similar to their original use in English.
