Sarcasm in the Nctizens Comment on Hillary Clinton's Instagram Stories

Sarcasm arises when someone does not like the other person, discomfort, anyer, social awkwardness, dissatisfaction, jealousy, and many other factors. Sarcastic people often use sharp or bitter comments, but there are also use figurative languages to satirize subtly. The aim of this research is to find out types and purpose of sarcasm in the netizen“s comment on Hillary Clinton"s Instagram stories by using Camp (2011) and Attardo"s (2001) theory, and this research using descriptive gualitative method. The instrument of this research was notetaking to classify the data. The findings showed that the most common type of sarcasm is like prefixed sarcasm, many netizens conveyed the bad word in the comments to express their dislike for the Hillary Clinton controversy and the guote that directly satirized Donald Trump. The most common purpose of sarcasm is evaluation as a verbal irony to give a negative opinion toward Hillary Clinton.
