This research is entitled “The Reflection of Author Life Through the Main Character in Novel The Pilgrimage”. The novel tells about spiritual journey from the main character named Paulo Coelho. The aim of the research is how the main character portrayed in the novel the pilgrimage used dynamic structuralism by Lucien Goldman to identify and analyzed the main character by the words, behavior, conversation and action. Sociology of literature is used to analyzed the personalities and the character of the author of the novel, in this case the biography of Paulo Coelho.

The results of this research show that the main personality traits are care, forgetful, pessimistic, respectful, and impatient. Paulo Coelho's character is described through the main character in the novel who has the same personality, care and respect through several interviews and the author's life. This research is expected to provide more information about the main character and the connection with the life of the author to the readers.
