Muslim teenagers Experience in Listening American Selected Songs
This study discusses the phenomenon of Muslim teenagers” who listen to American songs that are popular but contain vulgar meanings. This research aims to find out how today's Muslim teenagers respond to songs that contain vulgar words that are contrary to the teachings of the Islamic religion. The researcher used a gualitative descriptive method by applying Edmund Husserl's (1973) phenomenological theory to answer the purpose of this study. The data were taken from the respondents' answers to the guestionnaire containing guestions related to this research. The results of the analysis show that 8 out of 10 respondents feel normal when listening to American songs that contain vulgar meanings, while 2 respondents feel that as Muslims we have to be careful and pay more attention to the things we like. Based on the results of this study, the researchers concluded that the majority of Muslim youths are okay with American songs that contain Vulgar meanings.
