This study discussed the response of marginal children to the story in the picture book Little People, Big Dreams. This research is based on the theory of readers response by Norman N. Holland. This research is a gualitative descriptive method by using interviews to get valid data. The findings showed that the marginal children's responses to the picture book are engagement, interroganon, interpretation and evaluation. The researcher concluded that each student gave a different response to the story. There were eight of fifteen marginal children can go through all four stages in responding to literary works, which showed that they can understand the contents of the story in the picture book by giving a positive response in the form of explaining about several elements in the story such as plot, theme, Characters and moral message. This is because they were actively participating im the learning process held by KPAJ Makassar. Meanwhile, the other seven marginal children did not go through the four stages in responding the literary work. It showed that they still could not explain some of the elements in the picture book.
