The Representation of Mother Roles in the Avatar: The Way of Water Movie ( Semiotics Analysis), Supervisor I : Syabruni Junaid, S.S., M.Pd. Supervisor II : Ahmad, S.S., M.Litt. This research discusses the representation of the mother role in the Avatar: The Way of Water movie. The research aims to identify and analyse the signs of the represented by the mother role shown in the Avatar: The Way of Water movie. This research used semiotics theory by John Fiske and the theory of mother roles in analysing the data. The researcher used descriptive gualitative and used note-taking instrument in data collection. The results of this research show that there is a representation of the role of mothers, namely Neytiri and Ronal, whose roles are displayed through symbols, namely behavior, environment, gestures, appearance, character, and race. In this movie, Neytiri and Ronal have a big role as nurturers, educators, and protectors of their children from danger. It can be concluded that these two mothers represent a big role, namely as nurtures, educators, and protectors for their families.
