A Study of Deixis in the Collection of Oueen Elizabeth II's Selected Speeches Published in 2020
The aims of this research are to investigate all types of deixis and to recognize how deixis are used in the collection of Gueen Elizabeth II's selected speeches published in 2020. This research applied Levinson theory (1983) and that theory divided five types of deixis namely person deixis, place deixis, time deixis, discourse deixis, and social deixis. This research uses a gualitative method with the source of data are scripts of Oueen Elizabeth II's speeches from the royal family website published on 5" April 2020, 8” May 2020 and 25" December 2020. The result of this research shows that there are 155 data for person deixis, 25 data for place deixis, 42 data for time deixis, 37 data for discourse deixis, and the last 28 data for social deixis. The use of deixis in the collection of Gueen Elizabeth's speeches to avoid ambiguities meaning in an utterance is not clear by knowing the context and background knowledge about the topic being discussed and also the novelty thing is there is one type of deixis which can include more than one type of deixis
