Illocutionary Forces Used by the Main Character in Lirtle Women Movie

This study discussed illocutionary force, which aimed to discover the types and the dominant type of illocutionary force performed by characters in Little Women movie. The researcher applied a descriptive gualitative method to reveal the data. The data included utterances from the character's conversation that contained illocutionary forces in Little Women movie. This research used note-taking as the instrument to get valid data. The researcher revealed that all types of illocutionary force were found in Little Women movie: Assertive (Informing, Asserting, Admitting, Assuring, Predicting), Commissive (Promising, Threatening, Vowing, Accepting, Committing), Directive (Reminding, Reguesting, Soliciting, Advising, Commanding, Entreating, Suggesting, Asking), Declarative (Declaring, Approving) and Expressive (Thanking, Complimenting, Apologizing, Congratulating). The dominant type found in Little Women movie was Assertive illocutionary
