In the novel Small Things Like These, Claire Keegan tells the history of
Ireland, specifically related to the Magdalene Laundries incident. The
Magdalene Laundries were business institutions run by the Catholic Church
that exploited girls and women, referred to as the Fallen Women. The objective
of this study is to describe the author's worldview toward the history of
Ireland as depicted in the novel, using Goldmann's Genetic Structuralism
theory to analyze its structural elements and social aspects. This research
employs a descriptive qualitative method, utilizing note-taking and
documentation techniques as instruments.
