This research is aim at finds out the kinds of five codes in Imagine, Heal the
World and Gaza Tonight Songs. It uses the theory by Roland Barthes about five
codes. This research uses descriptive qualitative method. These five codes are
hermeneutic code, semantic code, proarietic code, symbolic code, and cultural code.
In Imagine song, one hermeneutic code, one symbolic code, six semantic code, and
six cultural code. In Heal the World, one hermeneutic code, one symbolic code, and
eleven semantic code. In Gaza Tonight, one hermeneutic code, and nine semantic
code.
