Connotative Meaning In Figurative Language Of Love Theme Songs Lyrics By Stars And Rabbit
This study focus on types of figurative language and connotative meaning
that appeared in songs lyrics by Stars and Rabbit. This study uses the descriptive qualitative method and analysis theory of Greg Johnson and Thomas R.Arp (2018) and Leech (1981). The data was taken from songs lyrics by Stars and Rabbit based on the loved theme those are Man upon the hill, The house, Partikle, Solace, Cry little heart, Summer fall, Worth it, Rabbit run, You were the universe.
The researcher found 9 types of 10 types on figurative language in songs lyrics by Stars and Rabbit. They are simile, personification, metonymy, symbol, paradox,
hyperbole, understatement and irony. Lyrics containing figurative language and
connotative meaning include: simile as much as 1 data, metaphor as much as 17
data, personification as much as 9 data, metonymy as much as 2 data, symbol as much as 2 data, paradox as much as 1 data, hyperbole as much as 1 data,
understatement as much as 2 data, irony as much as 1 data and connotative
meaning as much 14 data. The analysis resulted that songs lyrics by Stars and
Rabbit contained figurative language and connotative meaning. It can be inferred from this study that the songs lyrics by Stars and Rabbit apply figurative language and connotative meaning based on love theme of the songs.
