Students’ Perception Toward Paralinguistic Features Performed By The Lecturer In English Foreign Language (Efl) Classroom At Uin Alauddin Makassar
Paralinguistic features refer to non-verbal communication which can
be seen from the non-vocal aspect and vocal aspect. The purpose of this
research is to find out what are the paralinguistic features performed by the
English Lecturer in the (EFL) Classroom and to investigate what is the
students’ perception toward the English lecturer’s paralinguistic features in
the classroom of second-semester students of English Education (2023-
2024). The researcher applied a qualitative method and used Devito’s theory
to identify the types of paralinguistic features and Goldstein’s theory to
identify students’ perceptions. The participants are 6 students from the
English Education Department. The first result indicates that the lecturer
performed 7 paralinguistic features based on the theory.
