African Americans Struggle Againts Racism In The Hate U Give Movie
“The Hate U Give” movie 2018 by George Tilman Jr is an adaptation of the
novel by Angie Thomas in 2017. A black teenage girl who fights against the
injustice that her people are experiencing, especially to her best friend, Khalil. The
movie depicts racial incidents in the United States and how they affect the legal
system. This research aims to describe the forms of struggle experienced by black
people in obtaining justice. It uses critical race theory from Delgado & Stefencic
tahun 2001. The results of this shows the form of black people's struggle for justice,
both in the form White Domination, Interest Covergenc and Voice of Colors. The
existence of white domination that is considered normal in America is one of the
reasons the issue of racism still exists. In addition, interest covergence explains that
racial equality will only be fulfilled if there are white interests will only be fulfilled
if there are white interests in its implementation.
