Speech Errors on Sandiaga Uno’s Speech at Yusuf IshakInstitute
This research entitled Speech Errors on Sandiaga Uno’s Speech at Yusuf Ishak
Institute. The aim of this research is to find out the types and the causes of
speecherror made by Mr. Sandiaga in delivering speech at Yusuf Ishak Institute by
applying Clark and Clark’s (1977) theory. Clark and Clark identified nine types of
speech error: silent pause, filled pause, false start (un-retraced), false start
(retraced), stutter. Repeats, correction, interjection, and slip of tongue. The method
of this research was qualitative method. The data taken by running YouTube video
search related to the speech error of the study object. The research result shows the
types of speech error found are silent pause 10 times, filled pause15 times, repeat
15 times, correction 2 times, false start (un-retraced) 1-time, false start (retraced) 1
times, and correction 1 time. There is no interjection and slip of tongue. The causes
of speech error made by Mr. Sandiaga Uno based on Clark and Clark’s (1977)
theory are cognitive difficulty, situational anxiety, and social reason.
