Moral Aspect of the Main Character Jake Sully in Avatar 2 : “The Way of Water” Movie
This study discusses the moral aspects of the character Jake Sully portrayed in the “Avatar 2 :The Way of Water” movie. This study aims to identify and understand the moral implication of the Avatar 2: “The Way of
Water” movie. The study used Neiman’s Theory in analyzing and describing the moral aspects . In collecting the data, the researcher used note-taking as instruments in descriptive qualitative study. This study used intrinsic approach
that focused on the character of Jake Sully used the Neiman’s theory that divided the moral aspects into four aspects of morality: individual, natural, social, and
religious aspect. The results show that the moral aspect focused on the character of Jake Sully in “Avatar 2 :The Way of Water” movie are 4 individual moralities, 3 natural morality, 2 social moralities, and 1 religious morality. In addition, the most moral aspect presented in this movie is individual morality which is love and affection dominated in the character of Jake Sully. He was a good father who
really care and loving his family. In this regard, the most dominant aspects is individual morality, while religious moral is less prominent because it is not focused on religion but rather on heroism, struggle, and adventure.
