The Main Character Struggles in Facing the Bullying in Amy Sarig King’s Everybody Sees the Ants.
The aims of this research is about the main character struggles in facing
the bullying in Amy Sarig King’s Everybody Sees the Ants. The objective of this
research is finding out types of bullying and how the main character struggles
in facing the bullying. The method used in this research is descriptive
qualitative. In analyzing the data, the researcher used theory psychoanalysis
by Sigmund Freud. The researcher used categorization which is categorize the
types the struggles. In collecting the data, the researcher read the novel, note
taking, and marked the sentence contain to the object. The result of this
research shows that there are three types of bullying in the novel: physical
bullying, verbal bullying and cyberbullying. Physical bullying and Verbal
bullying are the most happened in the novel. In addition, the main character
can finally struggles facing the bullying by using his id, ego, and superego. The
researcher concluded that the id, ego, and superego are working together in
Struggles in facing a bullying, Id encourages Lucky's desire to face Nader. Ego
drives the actions that the main character will take in dealing with bullying.
The superego is the mediator between the id's desires and the ego's reality.
Where the superego plays a role as a law in determining the ego's actions
which will become the choices that will be chosen by considering whether
what the ego did is right or wrong.
