Natural Devastation In Station Eleven Novel By Emily St John Mandel (An Ecocritical Analysis)
This research aims to find out the how natural devastation is
potrayed in “Station Eleven” novel. This research applied the theory of
ecocriticism by Lawrence Buell to examine the interactions between the
characters and their environment. This research used a qualitative method
with the source data from Novel “Station Eleven”. The novel is a dystopian
novel set in a pre-pandemic world, where a deadly pandemic called the
Georgia Flu has wiped out the majority of the global population. The
findings suggest that Station Eleven serves as a warning against
overreliance on technology and environmental neglect, while also
highlighting the role of art, culture, and human connection in rebuilding
society amidst destruction.
