Expression of Euphemism in Binongko and English Language (A Comparative Study)
This study discusses euphemisms in the Binongko and English
languages. The objectives of the research focus on two aspects: identifying the
types of euphemisms in Binongko and English and comparing euphemisms in
these two languages. Data in the Binongko language were collected through
observation and interviews, while data on English euphemisms were gathered
from books, scientific articles, journals, and euphemism dictionaries. This
study employs a descriptive qualitative method. The data were analyzed using
Allan and Burridge's theory (1991) and contrasted between the two languages
based on Lado's theory (1957).
