Rhetoric Strategies of Sandiaga Uno’s Selected Speech in Empowering Indonesian Tourism
This research analyzes the rhetorical strategies used by Sandiaga Uno in his
speech at the High-Level Thematic Debate on Tourism at the UN General
Assembly Hall in New York. This research focuses on the rhetorical strategies used
by Sandiaga Uno in his speech and how Sandiaga Uno's speech influences
audiences to believe in his ideas and policies. As explained by Aristotle, there are
three rhetorical strategies, namely Logos, Ethos, and Pathos. This research method
involves in-depth analysis and a qualitative descriptive approach to identify the
rhetorical strategies used by Sandiaga Uno in his speech. The results of this research
show that Sandiaga Uno used rhetorical strategies in delivering his speech and
influenced the audience. The researcher found four statements indicated containing
Logos, eleven statements of Ethos, and six statements as Pathos. Based on the
analysis, the researcher concluded that in influencing the audience rhetorical
strategy played an important part in building rational arguments throught Logos,
namely Enthymeme and Example, in building trust through Ethos, namely
Perceived Intelligence, showing Character, and Goodwill. Likewise through
Pathos, namely with Confidence, Love or Frienship and Admiration.
