Referential function analiysis in David Nicholls’s novel “One Day”
the objectives of this research are to find out and describe micro functions of referential function on utterances in the novel One Day by using Roman Jakobson's theory about referential function. in this novel, the writer found six micro functions of referential function they were identifying items about people, school, home, and community. asking for adescription of someone or something, defining something, explaining or asking for explanation of how something works comparing and contrasting things, discussing possibilities/probabilities or capabilities for doing something.
