:The Politeness Strategy Used in the Main Character Meilin Lee in The Film Turning Red

This research aims to determine the politeness strategies used by Meilin Lee
as the main character in the film Turning Red. The purpose of this research
is to determine the politeness strategy used by Meilin Lee as the main
character in the film Turning Red. The researcher using descriptive &
qualitative methods, applied the theory by Brown and Levinson (1987)
regarding Politeness strategies. According to Brown & Levinson (1987),
there are four sub-strategies of politeness strategy, namely bald on record,
positive strategy, negative politeness, and off record strategy. However, this
study found that only two namely bald on record and positive strategy
because the main character tends to speak spontaneously with her friends to
make interlocutors understand the topic of conversation.
