The Battle of Ideology in Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard
Literary sociology of Roucek and Warren is the main theory used to see
social relations that occur between communities which give birth to several
ideologies in the social order. Ideology of Raymond Williams is an additional
theory to group several ways of thinking held by the groups in the Glass Sword of
Victoria Aveyard. The research objectives of this study are to describe the ideology
found and the way the ideological war occurs in the novel. The data was analyzed
using Genetic Structuralism and an understanding of ideology to find out the type
of ideology that emerged and the ideological war that occurred. The results show
that there are four ideologies in Glass Sword, namely Marxism, liberalism, fascism
and feminism, which are represented by each group. It was the \ideological
differences that surrounded this place that gave rise to an extraordinary ideological
war between the silver people who adhered to Marxism and the red people who
were mostly members of Fascism which gave rise to an extreme movement called
the Scarlet Guard with the aim of gathering masses who had a collective awareness
of all injustice. that occurs in a system of liberalism. The emergence of various
ideologies makes Glass Sword an interesting novel that is able to make readers
aware of defense and attack patterns using the mind.
