The Transposition Of Bilal Bin Rabah In Popural Culture
This This study explores the transposition of the story of Bilal ibn Rabah
in contemporary literary works published between 2011 and 2023. The
research focuses on how Bilal’s narrative is transposed and interpreted across
different literary media, and how the change of medium influences the
representation of Bilal’s character in terms of physical, spiritual, and cultural
identity. The study employs Linda Hutcheon’s adaptation theory, particularly
the concept of transposition, which emphasizes adaptation as a form of
repetition without replication. The analysis is conducted by examining the
works based on their media category rather than individual texts, in order to
highlight how form and medium shape the narrative of Bilal. The findings
indicate that literary media not only re-present Bilal’s story but also create new
layers of meaning aligned with aesthetic, ideological, and cultural demands in
modern contexts, .
