Slang Language Used In Max Reisinger’ Vlog
This study aims to analyze the use of slang in two vlog videos on Max
Reisinger's YouTube channel, based on the type of slang according to Allan and
Burridge (2006). This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with a focus
on identifying, categorizing, and analyzing the social and cultural functions of
the slang terms used. The results of the study show that there are 25 slang
terms divided into five categories: 16 Fresh and Creative, 1 Imitative, 1
Acronym, 4 Flippant, and 2 Clipping. The Fresh and Creative category
dominates, indicating linguistic innovation that aligns with contemporary
youth cultural trends. Imitative slang marks the evolution of language through
the imitation of expressions, Acronym simplifies communication, Flippant
provides a casual or humorous tone, and Clipping simplifies long words for
communication efficiency. The findings of this study confirm that slang in vlogs
functions not only as a communication tool but also as a marker of social
identity, creativity, and youth culture in the digital age. The research results
provide insights into the dynamics of language development that adapts to
social and technological contexts.
