The objective of this research to figure out the difficulties faced by the students in constructing correct english complex sentences. based on the questionnaires, the most difficulties were caused by the material itself. it was supported by the answer of 32 respondents. in this case, the students found difficulties because they did not understand the concept of the rules in constructing english complex sentences. the factor that hampered the students were the internal problems, such as lack of vocabularies, and the influence of their first language.
