This research reveals that the film version is the expansion on the aspects of plot, the characters and point of view from the novel. Based Hanny R. Saputra's point the view, the film is expanded into more modernized and pop love story. Whereas the Saputra also adds more antagonistic characters portrayed by Mak Asia (Zainab's mother) and Engku Rustam.
