The analysis of social deixiz in Kaki Warner's novel "Open Country"
The study found fifty two social deixis overall in the form of word, phrase, and sentence including relational social deixis and absolute social deixis. Examples of relational social deixis are father in law, Aunt Molly, Mr. Hank, and Presiden Lincoln. Examples of absolute social deixis are Jesus Christ Almighty, sweet Jesus, Dear God, and Lord. The study also found that the function of social deixis in Kaki Warner's novel as medium to express politenss and unpleasant in language usage, to distinct social status, to keep social relation, describe social identity, to mark social distance and to express humble or low in rank.
