This research discussed about Intification of profanity in “ American Ultra ” Movie By Nima Nourizadeh Which aimed to find out the kind, the functions and the effect of profanity. This research based on Andersson and Hirsch’s theory of the functions of profanity, Jay’s theory of the kinds of profanity, and effects of profanity which based on Cacipp’s theory. This research was descriptive qualitative method. Note taking is the instrumen in this research. The findings showed that there were five kinds profanity in the “ American Ultra ” movie,they were: Seven dirty words there were shit, fuckout, mother fucker. The kinds of strong other words were king idiot, bitch, fucking dog, and bullshit. The researcher also found the Excretory which pissed in the movie, next Sexual dicks and ass, and the last Mild of other words were God damn it, jesus, and hell. Furthermore, the researcher found that there were five functions of profanity in “ American Ultra” movi they were Expletive, Abusive, Humoristic, Euphemistic and Habitual. The researcher believes that the effect of profanity could be positive, negative, and neutral. The researcher concluded that function of profanity was not only given the anger expression but also it gave humor expression and the effect of profanity was not only the bad effect, but it contains the good effect.
